The Way To Your Heart Bloghop

heartbloghopmed

I was so meant to have posted this yesterday. However, I spent the Easter Hols hanging out with friends (doing the crazy things we do when there is a holiday that lasts for days and no work in sight). Had a major hangover when I got home last night so I slept off like a log of wood until I woke up this morning. Feel much better now though :D.

Less Than Three Press is celebrating their fourth year and so it’s party time. Yay! Lol. In order to mark the event, they’ve put together this amazing hop featuring so many amazing people, including the founders of LT3 themselves who all have different stories to tell about that special thing that they love, and they are doing so while giving out pretty shinies and awesome gifts :). LT3 has become a family for me, and it brings me joy to be associated with everybody on the team. Here’s to many more years :D.

Now, on to the real post. I have a lot of things I love. Television, Books, Coffee, Animes, Mangas, Music. The list is endless. However, if I was told to choose my one true love from this list, it would be music.

I’m the girl you’ll see with headphones attached to her head, whether she is happy, sad, ecstatic or depressed. Music has this soothing attribute to it. It’s also been with me through thick and thin, just like a best friend. Many a relationship had been clarified because I heard a song that showed me what my heart was feeling. Many a break-up had been soothed because I had songs that helped me vent, and helped me heal.

Once I put on my headphones or earphones, time just melts away. I’m in my own zone, from which creativity is birthed and I discover more about myself. It’s an experience that I cannot really put into words.

Whether it’s a 2Pac or Eminem rap, a composition by Beethoven, the wise words of Don Williams, a lonely Lady Antebellum song, Rihanna singing about S&M, Bob Marley speaking the truths of the world, the gothic songs of Evanescence and Within Temptation, or Breaking Benjamin doing their thing, music is my love, my life, my friend, and brings me so much joy and comfort that will always be unforgettable and appreciated.

{To Win:}

Leave me a comment telling me who your favorite artist is and what song is your favorite. To be fair, I will go first. I have tons of favorite artists (one for every genre) and lots of favorite songs. Had Enough by Breaking Benjamin is my favorite when I’m wishing a bad case of Karma on someone. My Immortal by Evanescence always gives me the shivers. A Dangerous Mind by Within Temptation reminds me of those loves, with dark eyes and hint of danger, and yet one is still drawn to them. Eminem’s Ass Like That makes me laugh. Rihanna’s Skin is able to get me in the mood very quickly (if you know what I mean #wink), Kalafina’s Kagayaku Sora no Seijaku niwa always, always moves me to tears. Still have many more on the list, but I think it’s time for me to stop talking (I do that a lot), and give you guys the chance to share your songs and artists with us.

Do not forget to include a means of contact. I will be giving out the gifts on the 15th of April. Please reply to the winning email I send to you as soon as possible because after 24 hours, I will be handing over your gift to someone else.

Winners will be chosen using random.org

As an artist, much like any writer, I tend to listen to music. Usually the best way for me to get inspired is to loop one song. I’m ALWAYS up for some Pre-removal of the exclamation point in Panic! At the Disco. Definitely my favorite oldie artist. Usually, though, I end up liking a singular song instead of an artist.

So excited that it’s LT3’s anniversary! ❤ Grats to them and you!

That’s tough. I have so many favorite songs and artists. I use music to express myself, so I have music for everything. I’m going to go with Three Doors Down for my fave, I’ve been listening nonstop to Kryptonite, Let Me Be Myself, and Citizen/Soldier for about the past two weeks, so they’re really influencing me right now.

Although I love so many songs, I always have a special place in my heart for “The Tide is High” by Blondie because of memories of childhood and my mom. In fact, I found a copy of it on a record at the second hand store recently, and even though I don’t have a player, I bought it anyway!

    Thanks for sharing with us!

My favourite artist right now is Rise Against. I adore them. I’m actually managing to go to a music festival at the end of the month that they’ll be at. As well as Halestorm. And Bush. FYI, if you see on the news about a girl getting arrested for forcefully groping a rockstar at Carolina Rebellion 2013? Totally me. Jailtime would be totally worth it. I love love Satellite and then Miss the Misery or You Call Me a Bitch Like it’s a Bad Thing or Mz Hyde and then Sound of Winter (respectively to order of listed bands). My music tastes are epically all over the map other than that type of stuff. contact at efoster919(at)yahoo

I’m the kind of person who loops the same song or album again and again for weeks on end, until I finally move on. It’s been more than a handful of times when I’ve heard family members humming along to tunes (all the more amusing when it’s Japanese, which they know not a single word of).

Recently, I’ve been stuck on this EP by Mystery Skulls (http://mysteryskulls.bandcamp.com/). The beat is really catchy and I’d catch myself dancing a bit in public if I’m not careful about maintaining appearances of being aloof and adult-like. It’s also been great for when I want to zone into drawing stuff for work. xD

My favorite songs change from time to time, but at the moment I really like “I love you” by Woodkid (love his voice).

I’m a sucker for chimy guitars and beautiful boy harmonies…I’m crazy about Sloan (since all four guys write and sing, the albums are all very diverse–something for everybody)! Their “The Answer Was You” might be my favorite these days…very sweet and sigh-inducing! Bands like Big Star, the Posies, Blue Ash, Teenage Fanclub, Greenberry Woods (and their punkier offshoot Splitsville), and other things of the powerpoppy ilk are good too . I also like garagy stuff like the Fleshtones, and I adore Redd Kross! And I’m sure I’m forgetting a zillion others, eek…

it depends on the mood I’m in, but the Beatles “Blackbird” always makes me want to cry and I love that band dearly. I have lots of other favorites, most of which the bands are no longer together, but thats okay 😉

Thank you, for sharing your love of music! As an audiophile, myself, I love discussing music.

My favorite artist has always been David Bowie, but it’s so hard to choose just one favorite song, as he has a song for every occasion… God Knows I’m Good, It Aint Easy and Rock n’ Roll Suicide would probably be at the top of the list, though.

  10. Alessandra Ebulu says:

Definitely, the time to seek new songs. Sam, T.T, Mell and E.E have all given me amazing suggestions. One other thing I noticed is that a person’s favorite song or songs always say a lot about them :).

  11. Alessandra Ebulu says:

Silly me. Just saw your response in my mail Chrissy. Lol. And I love Rihanna’s stay as well. Have you seen the video? It’s so amazing. It’s sad and moving. Utterly love it! I’m also in a feels mood lately so yes to feely songs. Lol.

  12. Alessandra Ebulu says:

I love songs like that Talya. Songs that speak about the worth of people, good people in our lives. I have so many of them. Sometimes, I just think I’m so blessed. Tokyo hotel it is then. At the end of this hop, I have a feeling that the list of albums I would need to purchase would have grown to formidable heights. Lol.

  13. Alessandra Ebulu says:

Oooh. I live GooGoo Dolls as well Megan. I think I even have a couple of albums. #thinking. Never heard of Johnny Rzeznik though. Someone knew to check out it would seem. Yay!

And thank you for having me at LT3 :D. You all rock.

    • Alessandra Ebulu says:

Lol. Yeah I did. I love Uverworld as well. And Orange Range. They were used as theme songs for Naruto and Bleach, and seeing that my anime addiction spreads to my taste in music. I went out into the music world to find the songs. #wink. It was worth it though.

Now I have other artists to add to my must listen to folder :D. Thanks a lot Shayla.

  14. H.B. says:

First off I want to thank you for sharing your song choices. I haven’t heard a few of them before and this would be a great opportunity to go find them and listen to them.

I have so many favorite artist/songs and it’s so hard to choose but I think I’ll just give you the name of the three artist/songs I’m currently stuck on and keep repeating on my mp3 player:

Augustana – Shot in the Dark (I can relate to the lyrics in this song. Its beautiful and hopeful)
Adaline – We’ve got Something (I love love songs)
Royal Wood – Safe Haven (I love the melody and the vocals, it’s a bit haunting. The lyrics are also touching)

The great thing about music is that you will always find new artists and songs to follow. And the search is always worth it :D. That said, time for me to go looking for the three songs you just mentioned. They sound utterly lovely :).

  15. cecille says:

I like music with a strong beat that I can move to.

My favorite artist is Yoko Kanno, and her music with The Seatbelts on “Cowboy Bebop”. I can listen to that over and over.

    • Alessandra Ebulu says:

Danceable tunes are really cool. And considering the fact that my neighborhood is unsafe for any form of running whatsoever, I dance to get my exercise. Strong beats are good for that, and they have the added advantage of helping with flexibility :D.

Will keep a definite eye for Yoko Kanno :).

      • Crissy M says:

I swear I left my comment somewhere…*sighs*…so favorite artist? I can’t say that I have one favorite. I love all kinds of music right now I’m listening to “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess, “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna, “Stay” by Rihanna and Mikky Ekko, and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script. I’m usually pretty eclectic in my music tastes…I love Jason Mraz, Bruno Mars, Neyo, Maroon 5, Busta, Pitbull, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan…seriously, eclectic is the best description 😀
